    Nicholas I took the throne over from his brother Constantine which led to an uprising within a group of people. Although the plan failed it gave hope to the future generations that they would overthrow the czars. But because there was a lack of support and organization with the plan. The Decembrist Revolt proved that the peoples loyalty to the Czars was receding.

They wanted the non-bolsheviks gone and to do this they led a campaign. Because the secret police wanted the non-bolsheviks gone and the mensheviks and the bolsheviks were split up there was a civil war by 1919.
