    the number of factories in more than doubled. by 1900 russia became the 4th steel producer in the world. made the trans-siberian railroad. had growing issues with the growth of working conditions, low wages, and child labor laws.

    had strict censorship codes on published materials and written documents. had secret police watching secondary schools and universities. teachers had to send detailed reports about all the students.
