    Roman rule of Israel

    under the rule of the Romans, Israel was appointed a king, Hyrcanus II,with limited power under a governor. Roman rule over Israel was a somewhat violent one due to the constant suppression of revolts. Jerusalem was burned to the ground and an temple was destroyed during the Roman rule. After the destruction of Jerusalem, many Jews were sold into slavery.

    Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish preacher. The new testament of the Bible is still used today, and it shows the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. His teachings were about the all loving god. He was crucified for his teachings. The Crucifix remains the symbol of Christianity. Ad is when Christ was born

    Paul of Tarsus is also known as Saint Paul or Paul the Apostle. He was an Apostle, but not one of the twelve because there is evidence in the Bible that he was not filled with the spirit of god. Some say he has written 13 of 27 of the books in the New Testament of the Bible.This is still debatable. He was both a roman citizen and a jew. He was persecuted by the Romans because he spread Jesus’ teachings.

    A roman emperor burned and threw some Christians to the beasts in 64 AD. In 64 AD, A fire broke out in Rome. Nero used the Christians as a scapegoat for the fire. some suspect that Nero set the fire.

    Perpetua was born in 182 and died on march 7, 203. She was a person who was persecuted and sentenced to death in the arena. She had written about her trial and imprisonment in her diary. The diary is how we know about her experience and it was what lead her to sainthood.

    When Constantine imposed The Edict of Milan, all restrictions on Christianity were removed and the religion was legalized. After he Imposed the Edict, He built a new capital and new churches worshiping the Christian god.

    Theodosius was a Roman Emperor from 379 to 395. He was the last emperor to rule over both the eastern and western sides of the Roman Empire. Theodosius' father was executed for treason. He was crowned emperor of the east.
