When the Roman Rule of Israel begins

27 BCE

In 27 BC, Israel was under Roman power because it fell unsteady and the empire then grew to be much larger and much better. Due to the Roman rule, this meant that Israel would be able to to move openly between many places such as Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Paul of Tarsus

Paul of Tarsus, also known as Saint Paul, was an Apostle who taught the first century world the gospel of Christ. He is considered one of the most important figures of the Apostolic Age.

Jesus of Nazareth

Jesus of Nazareth was a religious leader tat was revered in Christianity. He is one of the most well-known biblical figures mainly because his mother was supposedly a virgin.

Roman Rule of Jerusalem

The Roman Rule of Jerusalem began in 63 BCE and ended in 313 AD. In 66 AD the very first Roman and Jewish war happened. The Jew's rebellion was quickly terminated as the Roman army overthre them by a very large amount of people. In the siege of Jerusalem that took place in 70 AD Romans made their way into the city and destroyed many temples and ancient artifacts that meant a lot to them.

Great Fire of Rome

The Great Fire of Rome was a very devastating event that happened in 64 AD.It caused large amounts of destruction to the people and the city. It lasted around 6 days and a lot of different Roman citizens had different theories of how it started. People kept blaming it on Christians which caused a lot of damage to them too.

Perpetua

Perpetua was a Christian woman who got arrested by and Emperor named Septimius for taking different classes preparing for baptism. Her father, went into the prison and asked her to revert back to her old religion, but Perpetua did not accept the offer. Because of this, Perpetua was put in front of lions and leopards in the arena, and was quickly killed.

The Great Persecution

The Great Persecution was the one of last well known mass persecution of Christians. In 303, many different emperors issued the law that forced Christians to follow the regular religion. Christians had always been subject to discrimination in the Roman empire, but no previous emperors needed to put some laws against them.

Constantine the Great

Constantine the Great, was the emperor of Rome from 307-337 BCE. Constantine was a good leader and helped the Roman society in different ways. At war people said Constantine saw the cross in the sky with the words, "In this sign, conquer." he thought this as a sign that Jesus was on their side and added Christian symbols to all the shields for the soldiers. It created publicity and acceptance for Christians.

Battle of Milvian Bridge

The Battle of Milvian Bridge was a battle that started between the rulers Constantine and Maxentius on October the 12th, 312 AD. Constantine was the one who led the Roman army to victory, and this Battle marked the beginning of his change to Christianity. The reason for this is because he thought he saw a cross in the sky.

Edict of Milan

The Edict of Milan was an agreement that was created in February, 313 AD. Throughout the Roman empire to treat Christians kindly. Constantine and Licinius met in Milan and they decided to create this policy. The policy gave Christianity legal status, and it didn't make them the church of Rome.
