    Thirty Year's War
    The Thirty Years War is one of the longest lasting wars ever to occur. The war took place between 1618 and 1648 over a period of thirty years. The fight began because of different views between Catholics and Protestants. Ferdinand II was trying to make people of the Holy Roman Empire take on Catholic religion and tradition. This caused Protestants to fight back. This war affected power and religion in Europe and ended in 1648.

  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    The English Bill of Rights was put into place by William III and Mary II, who were trying to give rights to the people and give Parliament more power than the monarchy. This was caused by the Glorious Revolution which took King James II out of power. The English Bill of Rights stated King James’ mistakes, freedoms that should be had by the people and acceptance of the new rulers and that they would not misuse their ruling power.

    War of the Austrian Succession
    The war started because Fredrick attacked Silesia. Secondly, the female in charge in Austria, named Maria Theresa, was not allowed to claim land from her father since she was a woman. This created fears and alliances which caused French and British involvement in the fight for Prussia to take control of Silesia. Eventually, Austria and Prussia became peaceful and worked together to fight against France.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Britain created the Stamp Act to tax colonists on imported goods on printed items. Colonists rejected this act because they did not have a say because of British Parliament. Britain thought they were justified in taxing the colonists because they had major debt to pay from the French and Indian War because they helped the colonists fight. The Stamp Act resulted in violence and resulted in the famous phrase “No taxation without representation!” leading to the Stamp Act being repealed by 1766.

    American Revolution
    The American Revolution resulted in American independence. It came about because of the growing frustrations between the residents of the 13 colonies and the colonial government in Britain. The colonists felt that they were not being represented in the British government. More taxes and new laws were being made by the British government and the colonists had no say. This war eventually turned into a World War when Spain and France joined.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783. It ended the American Revolutionary War. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay were three Americans who negotiated the for the United States. With the treaty it was agreed that Great Britain recognize the Thirteen Colonies to be free and independent states. On January 14, 1784, the treaty was ratified by the Continental Congress.
  • French Revolution

    French Revolution
    The French Revolution began in 1789 and ended in 1799. It was during the French Revolution that events such as the Tennis Court Oath, the Storming of the Bastille, and Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen took place. The end of the French Revolution marked the start of Napoleon's rise. The French Revolution created big changes for the social and political structure of France. Also, the French Revolution ended the French monarchy and created more rights for women.

    On June 20, 1789, deputies of the Third Estate met on an indoor tennis court to take the Tennis Court Oath where they agreed to stay together until a new French constitution came. During this time, King Louis XVI was not able to deal with the harsh financial problems he inherited. Having the most representatives the Third Estate had declared themselves the National Assembly.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    The Storming of the Bastille occurred in Paris, France. It represented the start of the French Revolution and was an attack on the government. During this time members of the Third Estate wanted to have more say in the government. The people who stormed Bastille were mainly made up of store owners and craftsmen who were part of the Third Estate. Around one thousand men participated in the attack. The military leader of bastille Governor de Launay ended up being killed by the crowd.
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror was an extremely scary period of time that took place during the French Revolution. During this period of time a group of men called the Committee of Public Safety along with a leader named Robespierre ruled France. During this time any little thing people did that gave even a slight hint to opposing the revolutionary government could mean prison or possibly death. On July 27, 1794, Robespierre was removed from power and executed the next day, which ended the Reign of Terror.
