Research of Thriller genre
At the start of the course we had to research the Thriller genre to find out how they are made and what makes a good Thriller film because shorty we would be making an opening title sequence for our own Thriller film. The research went from actually looking at Thriller films and analysing them to tearing it all back and looking at different techniques for example light, props, cotumes (Mise-en-scene) and also how the actor acts and the music and sound through out the film and where they put it. -

Question 7: Looking back at your prelimnary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progession rom it to the full product?

Formed groups
In the class the teacher put us into 6 different groups to start work on our prelim exercise. In my group was two other people Liam Mcmillen and Jamie Male. I already knew Liam but had never met or worked with Jamie so we had to get to know eachother quite fast so that we could start the work right away. It was a good group because we all got along and worked well as a team. -
Filmed prelim exercise
(Prelim exercise)We started filming the prelim exercise nearly straight away after getting in our groups but by then we were already talking and got to know eachother. The prelim was so that we knew about how to use the different equipment (Camera, tripod) and it was also to help us get to know how to edit in the edit suit and how all the computers work in the edit suit. -
Formed new groups and planned for OTS
We got put in to our final groups to make our final product so some groups got moved around but our group got kept the same and this was good because we all got along fine and worked well. To start with we all came up with ideas about Thriller films and how we could do an opening title sequence for it. This planning was very helpful because it gave us all a very good idea of what direction we wanted to go in. -
Filming day
On the filming day we had all day to go to our different locations and set up and film and because we knew how to work the camera already this went well and we got a lot done in that one day. the one stop that im mist proud of is the panning shot that goes from him walking down the road to then walking up to the door, this is because it looked really well done and looked smooth. I think the filming day went very well except small things like public getting in the way of the camera. -
Start editing
When we final finished the whole day of filming the week after on the first lesson we had we went straight into the editing suit and uploaded ar film onto he mac's and started to fit it all together. Once we had put it all on we starting to editing starting from the beginning and worked are way through to the end. All the way through we had lots to do and it was ver hard at some points but we had Jamie who is really good at editing so he really helped us. -
Re-shoot number 1
When we were editing we realised that we didnt have enough shots of the props in and around the boys room and really the props are the main thing which shows the audience key aspects of out main character. So all three of us went back to the location (Ryans House) and we set the room up exactly like it was on the first filming day and we went round getting as many shots of props as we could. -
Editing still
We have done the main part of the editing but now we are working on the smaller things such as the graphics and title and also on the sound. -
Re-shoot number 2
We had to do one last re-shoot because we wanted another graphic for our piece but didnt have anyway to put it so I (Ryan) went to the loction and filmed loads of shots of a bin so that we could put graphics around it which in the end turned out really good. -
Last day of editing / putting final piece on youtube
We were now on the last day of editing and we were nearly done and everything so far had gone really well and it was loooking really good. We had some last minute things to edit and sort out like the music and some of the graphics but other then that we were done. So we finally finished it completely so we then uploaded it to youtube and now anyone can watch it whenever they want and this can also help us get feedback. -
DONE!!!
Now everything was done and all uploaded ready for marking. :)
