    Initial Planning Stage
We started off in our new groups by brainstorming ideas as a group. From the start I liked our group and thought that we will work well together. It was rather easy coming up with a plot because we all liked the same things and expanded on each other’s ideas. I quite liked camera work and editing so they all found it find that I could take that role. We didn’t argue on any roles and we basically swapped roles when someone had an idea.
It was rewarding working a group because I had peer help when

    Prelim Task
I was new to media studies this year, as I hadn’t done it GCSE. This was quite challenging because a lot of my peers in the class room new all the lingo, and at time I felt that I was far behind. I had to ask for a lot of help although slowly picked it up and learnt about continuity filming, editing and the 180* rule. After the preliminary exercise I decided that camera work and editing was my part to play. I liked hands on with equipment and this made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.

When planning out opening title sequence, Josh instantly knew the best secluded areas that would be ideal for filming. I could picture how it was going to turn out and as I was sketching the storyboard my ideas were coming through a filmmaker’s eye. Josh was on Mise-on-scene, because I had no idea what his area was like, although I trusted him and it turned out to fit the script well.
Without the planning sheets we would be lost because a lot of our ideas had been forgotten on the day and bringi

    Filming Day
We were definitely more ambitious on the day of filming and had improvised quite a few scenes that we thought would work well the dingy feel on set.
For every scene I had filmed several different shots, at different angle, so that we had a choice- when editing. This was very useful because when editing a lot of clips had small faults and the choice in clips helped us take these out.

    Re-Shots
There is no issue in re-shooting some clips. On the first day it started raining slightly and so we re-shot the same clip the day after in the sun.
I think our final product was very successful. From all the feedback we got there were no negative points and this meant a lot to know that all the work we put in- was worth it.
If I was to do this again, there probably isn’t anything I’d do differently, because I thought it went rather successfully. The only difference I’d like is a different group,
  • Editing

    Editing
Editing on this compared to my preliminary exercise, was very different. In the fact that it took a lot longer and the actual editing it’s self was more complex. Overall a lot more was put into it.
It was easier editing the footage in a way because when filming I had continuity editing in my mind.
We only explored a small variety of editing techniques. These we mainly for the flash back scenes, where parts were in slow-mo and the colour saturation was lowered to create a vague flash back type lo
