    Estates General
    on this date there mas held a meeting in versailes of representatives from all three estates, to approve the new tax. the clergy and nbles had dominated the estates general throughout the middle ages and expected to do so in the 1789 meeting.
  • National Assembly

    National Assembly
    The third estate voted to established the national assembly, where they desided to end absolute monarchy, and the begining of a representative democracy. this vote was the first delibaret act of a revolution. this event eventualy lead to the tennis court oath.
  • The fall of the Bastille

    Rumors spread that the king was going to send military troops to france to kill french citizens. on july 14 people went into a french prison in serch for wepons. they hacked the prisson and send several guards to death. this prison was called the bastille. After invading the prison they paraded around the streets with the dead man´s heads on pikes.

    noble man made speaches about liberty and equality, this made people join other members of the netional assembly in sweeping away the feudal pvriliges of the first and secong estates, making people aqual to the nobles and the clergy. the next morning the old regime was dead

    the royal family tries to escape from france and into the austrian netherlands. as they neared the border, however they got cought, and reternud to paris under guard. this increased the number of enemies of the king,a nd sealed his fate.

    the National Assembly completed the new constitution. it created a limited constitutional monarchy, which limited the kings power as much as posible. it also consisted of a legislative body, which is known as a legeslative Assembly, which consisted of creating laws, but the king still had a power to enforce laws.

    King Lous 16 once was a king, then he becaem a citizen, and ended up as a prisoner. Now he is being treid for treason. jacobins and the convention found him guilty and he was sentenced to death by the guillotine.

To reinforce the french army jacobins orderd the convention to order a draft off 300,000 french citizens from 18-40 years. by 1794 the army had groun to 800,000 and including woman.

    Robespierre became a leader of the committee of public safety. a year after that Robespierre governed france as a dictator and the period of his rile became known as the reign of terror. He had these enemies who were tried in the morning and killed in the afteroon, these enemies were killed to protect the revelution. Robespierre thought that by his terror the french will remain true to the ides of the revolution.

    Poeple became more welth and happy, prices for everything went down, and all the other necessities for life. a new government was placed with a two house legislates and an executive body of five men, known as the dictery. some of these men were corrupted eaven so they gave their trouble country, a period of order. they also gave the command of the french armies to Napoleon Bonaparte
