  • Meeting With the Convict

    The starting point of the story. This event changed Pip's life off-stage in many ways. The convict, later known to be Abel Magwitch, was secretley supporting Pip with tainted money. He made Pip a gentleman. Magwitch was soon revealed to be Pip's benefactor and Estella's father.
  • Satis House

    The visit to Satis House was a significant one because that was when Pip first met Ms. Havisham and Estella. He fell in love with Estella, and her rude comments towards his common-boy appearance and behavior, hit him. He wanted to change for her, this motivated him to accept Jaggers offer of moving to London to become a gentleman, which is what he is from then on.
  • Jaggers and Wemmick

    If Pip hadn't met Jaggers, he wouldn't have been taken in to become the gentleman he is now. He would still be a common blacksmith boy.
  • London

    Pip decides to move to London to pursue his dream to become a gentleman. He leaves Biddy and Joe. During his visit to London, he reunites with Herbert and becomes close friends with him. While in London, he meets many characters who shape Pip into the man he is.
  • Trabb's Boy

    Shortly after moving to London, Pip encounters a young "bully" who taunts him. Pip feels very insecure about himself at that moment and he reflects if anyone else sees him as a haughty person.
  • Pip vs Drummle for Estella

    When Pip found out Estella was marrying Drummle, he was outraged. He couldn't believe that a Rich Spider like Drummle was going to wed his Star. This is a wake up call for Pip, he realizes that he no longer has a chance.
  • Orlick

    Orlick held a long-term grudge against Pip. He attempted to kill Mrs.Havisham twice, succeeding the second time. He aimed for Pip's death. He sent a letter to Pip informing him of his "Uncle Provis" to lure him to the marsh where he tried to kill Pip. He would have succeeded in doing so if not for Pip's friends barging in at the right moment to rescue him. Pip realizes that Orlick was jealous of him because Pip was always Joe's favorite and Pip was always with Biddy.
