King Louis the 14th had built a palace of Versailles and he was called 'Sun King' because he wanted his symbol to repesent his status as king. Before he died he had put the nation in great dept because he funded the war of the spanish succession and because of the building of the palace too.

King Louis XVI, grandson of KIng Louis XIV, becomes king and marries Marie Antoinette from Austria in an arranged marriage to form an allience. They had four kids though all but one died at childhood.

King Louis XVI called a meeting where the three estates would attend to debate some problems like the finantial crisist and how the people's votes should be counted. The third estate had proposed to have a constitutional monarchy in which the thrid estate would be doubled in delagates. Their second proposal was to vote by head. After the meeting he had changed nothing. The third estate was furious and locked out. Then they decided to call themselves the National Assembly.

The National Assembly started to hold their own meetings at a tennis court and people from the first and second estate also joined them in their meetings. The National assembly had made a pledge to keep these meetings going until a constitution is adopted. That would then set limits to the king. The king was conserned about the meeting because he didn't know what they were planning so brought troops to Versailles just in case. That is when rumors start to spread and everyone is scared.

A mob of people got together and stormed inside the bastille because in theory there would be ammunition to defend themselves against the army. While they were at the Bastille they completely destroyed it. They had also killed all of the prisoners inside. When the National Assembly had first formed they had no intensions of hurting anyone including the king.

At the same time that there was the storming of Bastille there was a grain shortage on the country side. As rumors spread, the peasents responded by burning the nobles homes because they thought that they were the ones that planned this. This went on from around mid-July to August.

The declaration had finally been formed and that meant that privileges for nobles, unequal taxation and feudal rights were all taken away.

After the whole inccident were there was not a good harvest this year then there was another rumor started. Peasents thought that Marie Antoinette was storing her own grain somewhere. A large mob of armed peseant woman then stormed to the palace and foeced the king and queen to move to Paris.

When the emperor of the holy roman empire(Austria) heared the news that France was going to become a republic he stepped in and same with King William II joined forces against France. France was prepared for the attack so after the attack the people killed the king for having done treason since he was encouraging Prussia rather than France.

This happened right after King Louis dies beuse the people felt that if they could execute the king they could kill anyone. This was one of the biggest things that occured in the revolution because about 30,000 people across France lost their lives.

Napolian Bonaparte quickly came into power by first commanding a french army against others and then working with the government closer by planning the attacs. He was later giving the position of a king and he crowned himself.
