Much of the Egyptian's religions mainly focused on the afterlife or life after death. Also, the ka leaves the body after death and becomes a spirit.

The Egyptians developed a method called embalming to preserve bodies and to keep them from decaying to help the ka. Only elite people were mummified or people of wealth and power. Mummies are specially treated bodies wrapped in cloth.

Pyramids are huge, stone tombs with four triangular shaped sides that met in a point at the top. Engineering is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. Burial in a pyramid showed a Pharaohs importance. The pyramid was symbolic it pointing to the sky and the journey to the afterlife. Also, they have pyramid texts that had curses they did that because they cared about the Pharaoh after death.

After the Pharaoh took back over and Egypt was united his rule began the Middle Kingdom a period of order and stability that lasted to about 1750 BC

Around 1750 BC a group from south west Asia called Hyksos invaded. They used horses, chariots, and weapons and took over Lower Egypt and ruler for the next 200 years.

Period of power and glory. After, Ahmose of Thebes drove out Hyksos and ruled all of Egypt.

Mid-1500 BC Egyptians fought back. Ahmose of Thebes declared himself king and drove the Hykos away and Ahmose ruled all pf Egypt.
