Louis Calls the Estate-General
In the first time in 175 years Louis called the gerneral assembly to talk about the financial issues that they were having. Representing all group in France, the first estate was the noble, the second was the clergy, and the third was the rest of the popultation. The third estate wanted a more powerful vote because they made up the majority of the people in France. -
Tennis Court Oath
The third estate was locked out of the meeing of the Estate-General so they decided to go to a near by tennis court and sign an oath. The group began to call themselves the National Assembly after the whole ordeal. -
Storming of the Bastille
The revolters needed gunpowder for the guns they stole so they decide to storm the Bastille, they destroyed everyone in the prison including all the guards and prisoners. This is also when they first showed their new flag. This event shows that the man power and agression behind the revolution will be almost almost impossible to stop. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man
A document made by the National assembly that defines the individual rights of all of the estates and caused them all to be equal and also demanded a constitutional monarchy and freedom of press. This was the first form of a constitution that France ever had. -
Trial of Louis
Louis was charged with 33 charges and and that Natiola Asemmbly were the ones who wanted to exacute him. He was declared guilty of all accounts and put to death by the guillotine, his marked the end of the monarchy -
Robespierre Comes to Power
Robespierre was elected a member of the Committee of Public Saftey and with his amazing speech skills took power of the committee and in turn took control of France at the time of teh revolution. -
The Terror
A new group was formed and ruled France after the donw fall of the monarchy, they called themselved the committee of public saftey. They suspended the constitutiona and started ot run the country like a dictatorship of 12. They wanted to end the lives of everyone who was against or did not fully support the revolution. The guillotine became the symbol of the revolution and the death tolls were in the tens of thousands -
Robespierre killed
After he was arrested and tried failed at commiting suicide went to the guillotine which he had used on so many people. The end of his life stopped the terror and took down the Committee of Public Saftey.
