My Immigration Story

    My mom applied for my two siblings and me in December 2012. I was in 9th grade that time. When my mom and dad moved to the America we had to move another area for safety. We were so confused about our school specially me. I had to change my school and we knew that we are going to America. So I was confused that which school I should go to prepare myself for U.S. Finally I continued my old school because it was a long process.
  • Approval

    Approval
    We got approval in 2013. It was funny because my sister and my brother got approval but i didn't. So, they were making fun of me that I have to stay in Bangladesh. I was happy because I didn't want to come. Actually I didn't get approval because my serial was between their serials. So, It means I got approve.
  • Medical

    Medical
    We had to take some medical exams. I was in 11th grade. Because of this we had to go to our capital city Dhaka. We went by train and that journey was about 8 hours. Then we got some shots, medical check up.
  • Visa

    After one year we got our visa. We had to face embassy for two more times, and we took medical exams again. That time I was in 11th grade. Every night My brother had to check visa status.
  • Waiting for visa

    Whole year we waited for visa. We had to face American embassy for 2nd time. Then we took medical exam again. Every night my brother's job was to check visa status in online. That time I was in the 11th grade. Finally we got visa.
  • Finally U.S.A

    Our journey was about 32 hours. We went first Chittagong to Dhaka then Culcutta to Dubai, and finally Chicago. we came here to get good education and get a better life.
  • Interview

    We got call for interview. Then we went to Dhaka to face American embassy. Our appointment was at 7.00 am but they called us at 4.00 pm. It was so boring, and we were hungry. Because they didn't let us to take our bag, phones or anything with us. We thought Americans are careful about maintaining time. My sister, brother and me interviewed together. We were shocked because in there every Americans know how to speak Bangla. We didn't get visa because they wanted stronger sponsorship.
  • Finally U.S.A

    Our Journey was about almost 32 hours. First Bangladesh to India, then Dubai to Chicago. For me it was really hard to leave my country. But my family wants a better life. They want our higher education.
