  • Battle of San Jacinto

    Battle of San Jacinto
    After the defeat at the Alamo the tejanos were out for revenge. U.S forces joined Houston for the attack on General Santa Anna and his Mexican troops. 600 Mexican soldiers were killed at the San Jacinto River. This event is important because it showed that the Tejanos were not gonna let one loss bring them down.
  • Texas Independence

    Texas Independence
    After the San Jacinto incident Santa Anna was hiding with the crowd but then later was discovered and taken in. He was then forced to sign Treaties of Velasco stating Texas independence and its border is the Rio Grande. This event is important because Texas was a free state, but the Mexican government was not able to accept it.

    Texas had been annexed by the U.S. and Mexico did not like that so Mexican troops were sent into Texas by the Nueces River and U.S. sent troops into the Rio Grande. Both were discussing the border of Texas so when Mexico shot and killed American troops Polk used the deaths as a way to start war. This is important because its bringing the U.S. closer to completing Manifest Destiny.

    The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
    The U.S. had taken control of the capital city. Once the U.S. had control, both nations at war had come to an agreement and Mexico had lost much of its land. This is important because this is how America had got much of its land and brought an end to the war.
  • Life of Juan Seguin

    Life of Juan Seguin
    After Texas had gained independence the Anglos had basically taken charge. The Tejanos that had decided to stay in Texas were seen as traitors to the Mexican government. The Tejanos weren't treated good by the Anglos either. Juan Seguin, important political and military figure, was treated just as bad considering he was the mayor of San Antonio. This is important because it shows that the Tejanos are being discriminated even though they helped in the revolution.
