Pachacuti was the 9th sapa inca (ruler) and quickly expanded the empire. the kingdom grew increasingly. Pachacuti set up a federal government, and divded the the empire into 4 provinces.

Francisco came around the same area and met the 13th sapa inca Atahualpa in person. Pizarro staged a surprise attack and held the emperor captive, for gold.

Atahualpa was executed after giving the gold to Pizarro.
