Thriller Opening title sequences
The first planning we did was researching thriller films, concentrating on the opening title sequence.We Firstly analysed 2 thriller opening title sequences of our choice.
i analysed The Bourne Identity and The Dark Knight.
From doing this is was able to get a good idea of the typical convetions of a thriller. -
Thriller Research
We also researched the Thriller genre, which helped me get a better idea of Mis en scene, hisotry and shots and editing techniques used in thriller films -
Preliminary Planning
Before our group started filming we need to firstly delegate roles and tasks.Also we needed to plan a shot list, storyboard. All this was group work. -
Preliminary Task- Filming
When we filmed our preliminary there were certain shots and techniques which needed to be included, these were 180 degree rule, match on action and shot reverse shot, being new to filming i had to learn these from scratch, and through using them in the preliminary got me used to these concepts =. -
Preliminary - editing
After we had finished shooting the preliminary, we needed to start editing the shots together, and got help from one of the editing teachers who guided us through the basic technigues needed fro editing -
Preliminary Task
After finishing our analyis and research, we were put into groups and starting filming our preliminatry task, which was an introduction to concepts of filing and editing. -
Preliminary Task- What i learned
Overall i learned a lot from the Preliminary task most of what i learned helped in the editing stage of our opening title sequence
Though through doing the preliminary i learned how to preform a shot reverse shot and also grasped the concept of the 180 degree rule, -
Preliminary Evaluation
Looking back on my Preliminary i think overall everything went really well, our plannign was very good, as we had an accurate storyboard which we followed and also a good shot list which was also closley followed. Continunity was challenging as some of our shots did not match so looked wrong when put together in the edit. -
Planning the Opening Title Sequence
In early November we started planning our Opening title sequence. firstly we brainstormed ideas for the narrative, we watched thriller trailers for inspiration. After we Found a good plot we started gathering ideas for locations, props and costume.
After we had a good idea of narrative and mis en scene we started drafting storyboards and shot lists. -
Planning
Planning was very useful as it acted as a schedule for us and that helped with time allocation. We managed to keep to our schedule and shot everything listed and that largely contributed to our success. -
Filming Day
i felt fairly confident on filming day as we had prepared well with our story board, shot list and schedule.Also after doing the prelimianry task i felt more ambitious in terms of ideas and shots.
Overall i am very proud with our opening title sequence and cannot think of a specific shot/scene im the most proud of.
