The March Revolution was focused around ST. Petersburg (formally known as Petrograd), the capital of Russia. Members of the Imperial Parliament assumed control of the country, forming the Russian Provisional Government.

Kronstadt is a naval fortress in the Gulf of Finland. Kronstadt served as the base of the Russian Baltic Fleet and guards the approaches to the city of St. Petersburg. On March 1st, 1921, 15,000 people met in Anchor Square. Here the sailors at Kronstadt staged an insurrection. This caused the Cheka to quell, killing thousands. Later on Lenin activated the New Economic Policy.

In December of 1922 Vladimir Lenin suffered his second stroke and retired from politics. The USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) is established.
