    On Febuary 10,1763, the Treaty of Paris of 1763 was signed, ending the French and Indian War. This treaty stated that France must give up all of their territories in North America, leaving the British military unthreatened over seas. The French king, Louis XV decided to make peace first, because his country was terrribly losing the war. The british approved this because the war was expensive and the country was going into debt.     On April 19, 1770, Marie Antoinette and Louis-Auguste got married after knowing eachother for only 2 days. Marie Antoinette was only 14 and married Louis because her mother, Maria Theresa, wanted her to become queen of France. The relationship didn't have anything to do with love at first, but after 23 years of marriage, they were close. Their personalities were very different, he was shy and she was bold, which made ruling France a challenge. Louis seemed to always be in the background because he wasn't as frivolous and bold as his wife. It wasn't always a good thing that Marie made all of the decisions because she only focused on keeping her friends happy and obtaining positions.     Louis XVI and Marie Antoiette began being hated for their motivation for decision making. Growing up in royal families, they both didn't understand the worries their people had. They chose to live life with their wealthy friends and not care for their country. Their people began disliking them for not helping their troubles and only caring about the upper class.     On May 20, 1785, the U.S. Congress of the Confederation adopted the Land Ordinance of 1785. This stated that settlers could claim land in the undeveloped west. Land that was bought by Land Ordinance covered about three fourths of the United States. They were forced to move out of Versailles and to Paris, where they were always watched and judged.     On the night of June 20th, 1791, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette attempted to flee from France with their children. They wanted to go to Marie's homeland, Austria, where they would be safe from the rioters in France. They left at night, by wagon, when they wouldn't be seen. But when the king and queen were just about to cross the french border, they were stopped by someone who recognized the king. The royal family was sent back to Paris where they wold be under 24 hour watch (Coffman 117).

    After trying to escape their nightmare in France, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were sent back to Paris and placed under arrest. The people of France were very upset with them and they knew they definetely couldn't be trusted. The monarchs were in cells and watched 24/7, so they couldn't make anymore sneaky moves. While arrested, France abolished monarchy in 1792 so Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI were no longer king and queen (Biography.com).

    After being put under arrest, Marie Antoinette was put on trial for treason, just like her husband, and they were both found guilty. The trial lasted two days and there was an all male jury. Her husband was sent to the guillotine several months before her and died on January 21st. After waiting several months for her death, Marie was sent to the guillotine on October 16th. Both of their heads were put on sticks and paraded around Paris, marking the end of the monarchy (Marie Antoinette 258).

    Marie Antoinette was covicted of treason and had a death sentence. 10 months after her husband, she died by guilotine and left an unforgettable legacy. She will always be known for being the last queen of France, which is a good thing according to history. Her death marked the end of France's monarchy and the french couldn't wait for that day to come. She was a disliked person, especially during her last few years, but she is still remembered today and is unforgettable (History.com).
