    Pip's Life

  • Pip met the Convict for the first time

Meeting the Convict was life-changing for Pip because it led to do something that he knew was wrong. Meeting the Convict and listening to what he was told to do made Pip guilty for the rest of his life, but it was the starting point of changing a naiive young boy into a man with developed characteristics.
  • Pip met Estella and Miss Havisham

This was Pip's first playdate with Estella at the Satis House. On this very day, Pip was first exposed to the "real world." From Estella's rude and mean remarks, Pip learned that he was of low class and that there is a hierarchy in society. After this day, his perspective on life changed drastically.
  • Mrs. Joe was attacked

What was then a mystery, Mrs. Joe was attacked and became an invalid. This was a milestone for Pip because Mrs. Joe was almost like a mother figure to Pip. Her being an invalid changed everything because now, Pip felt like he had more freedom. Only later, after she died, did he realize that she was truly an important person in his life, whom he loved dearly.
  • Pip was invested by a benefactor and went to London, England

This sparked the second stage of Pip's expectations. Pip was no longer a child at this stage, and he was given a new challenge in his life -- to learn to become a gentleman. Here, he met Jaggers and thought that Miss Havisham was his benefactor; which lead him into thinking that he had a good chance of marrying Estella, even though Miss Havisham was not his benefactor and did not intend for Pip to marry Estella.
  • Pip met Herbert Pocket (for the second time), Wemmick, and Drummle

Pip first met Herbert Pocket whom he became best friends with. He also met Wemmick (later though) who turned out to be one of Pip's greatest friends as well. These two friends helped Pip go through his difficult journey in life, and taught him many important values in life as well. Pip also met Drummle, on the other hand, and they quickly became enemies. Meeting Drummle made Pip stronger, having to endure the pain(s) and the competition that Drummle has caused him to do and take on.
  • Pip's benefactor is revealed

The convict, Abel Magwitch comes to Pip in desperation (once again) and reveals himself Pip's benefactor. When at first Pip looks at Magwitch in distaste, he soon learns to love Magwitch --another father figure to Pip. After his encounter with Magwitch, though, both Pip and Magwitch were headed for an immense amount of trouble.
  • Pip forgives Miss Havisham and gets forgiven by Joe and Biddy

Pip learns the act of forgiveness and finally matures as a person by letting go of his past. He sees Miss Havisham's change in heart and her sincerity in apology and forgives her for the things she did to Pip. Although a few years later, Pip also gets forgiven by Joe and Biddy after they reunite for the first time in a while. Having their forgiveness gives a relief to Pip's heart and reconciling with the people he loves ends the story with a relieved and happy note.
  • My first day of preschool

I started my first day of preschool. It was an important time of my life, because this was the day I first ever separated from my mom, and I learned to become a more independent person. This was the first day I learned something "academic," and gave me a first taste of what school is going to be like.

    Gloria's Life

  • Skipped Kindergarten

Skipping kindergarten may seem trivial to many, but it is an important event in my life because I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't skipped kindergarten. I would in fact be an eighth grader, not a freshman, and life would have been drastically different for me, if it wasn't for this very day I skipped a grade.
  • Got accepted into Oxford Academy

This day was life-changing, because I am the perso I am today because of my acceptance into this school. I learned so much after the day I got accepted: I learned to be much more hard-working, diligent, etc. Oxford is literally my lfe now (because homework really takes up a lot of my time!!!) and it really formed the person I am today.
  • First Talent Show at Oxford Academy

This was my very first talent show at Oxford Academy and it is significant to my life because it established my reputation at this school, and it opened my perspective on performing and singing. Since this very day, I have developed so much as a singer and I became a much better performer. It really triggered a newfound passion in me that I want to continue doing forever.
  • When I started Choir Class

This was my first day of Choir Class. Choir class is a huge part of my life because this is the place where I was really able to find singing opportunities, and develop myself as a singer. It lead me to do other extracurricular activites and opportunities like Honor Choir, a district choir, and I learned so much from it. It continues to be a love of mine, and I really enjoy this class and performing in all of the shows.
  • When I was accepted to become an FBLA Officer for the 2012-13 year

Being irresponsible, I did not read the instructions carefully enough and was not able to turn in my application as smoothly as anticipated -- I had to turn it in a day late. As expected, the superviser was very angry with me and had told me that I had a very small chance of getting the position that I wanted. To my delightful surprise, I was still accepted. This experience convicted me immensely and made me realize and learn that I need to become more responsible.
  • My 1st Debate Tournament

After I made it into the Speech and Debate team, I went to my first Debate Tournament. To my surprise, I won 3rd place. Although it was merely a novice tournament, winning 3rd really boosted up my confidence and triggered a passion for it. I currently love Speech and Debate and am now an officer for the 2012-13 year. It is one of the things in my life that really encompasses the person I am.
