    Estates General

    On 1788 France tottered the verge bankruptcy. Riots were happeing/ LouisXVI finally had the Estates General come to the versailles the following year. In May 1789 the deadlocked the doors from the issue of voting. The 3 estates only had one vote each and first and second estate always beated the third estate. The following month France wanted them to be in the National Assembly. National Assembly got locked and guarded so they moved to a tennis court and it took the famous of Tennis Court Oath.

    Paris seized the National Assembly meeting in Versailles. Rumors went around and royal troops were occupying the capital. 800 parisians went outside to Bastille and the crowd demanded weapons and gunpowders which they did not have.     On August of 1791 the kings of Prussia and Emperor of Austria issued the Declaration of Pilnitz. On october 1791 the new legislative assembly took office. It survived for less than a year.     A croed of Parisians stormed the royal palace of the Tuileries and killed the kings guard. The family fled the Legislative Assembly while escaping before the mob arrived. The next month the citizens attacked and killed the prisons. About 1,200 were killed. The envented "Suffrage" which gives them the right to vote. They voted to abolish Monarchy and make a republican. As the months went on the republic convention made Lois XVI on trial as a traitor to France. The king was convicted by one vote

    The constitution of 1795 set up a 5 man Directory and the two huse legislative elected by male citizens of property. The Directory held the power between 1795 to 1799. In the election in 1795 the monarchy won most of the seats in legislative. The politicians went to Napolean Bonaparte which is a popular military. They used him to help achieve there goals. Overall, Napolean became the ruler of France.

    In 1799, the 10 year old French Revolution has changed France. The new title 'citizen" was meant for many people of the social classes. The rest of the titles were eliminated. In 1793, France was the nation of army. Overall, the slavery was abolished.
