    Steve Chen early life

    Steve Chen is born in Taiwan in 1978, when he's 15 his family moves to Chicago, Illinois. He eventually attends college at the University of Illinois where he studied Computer Science where he meets Paypal cofounder Max Levchin.

    Chen works with Paypal

    Chen works for Paypal under the recommendation of his classmate, and Paypal co-founder, Max Levchin. His work under Paypal was primarily as a programmer but in his last two years, he worked to get Paypal launched in China.

    In 2005 Chen left Paypal to open Youtube alongside Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. With investment money from Sequoia Capital Youtube is able to launch a beta of their site in April 2005.
