    This war lasted from June 5, 1967 to June 10, 1967. The war was against Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Israel believed that it was only a matter of time before the three Arab states co-ordinated a massive attack on Israel
  • Munich Olympics

    The first few days of the Olympic Games went smoothly. On September 4, the Israeli team spent the evening out to see the play, Fiddler on the Roof, and then went back to the Olympic Village to sleep. A little after 4 a.m. on September 5, as the Israeli athletes slept, eight members of the Palestinian terrorist organization, Black September, jumped over the six-foot high fence that encircled the Olympic Village.
  • Yom Kippur War

    The Yom Kippur War started with a surprise Arab attack on Israel on Saturday 6th October 1973. On this day, Egyptian and Syrian military forces launched an attack knowing that the military of Israel would be participating in the religious celebrations associated with Yom Kippur. Therefore, their guard would temporarily be dropped.
  • Camp David Accords

    Since the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel had occupied the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Penninsula, both former Egyptian territories. Starting in 1971, President Sadat of Egypt had been working to reclaim the Sinai and expel Israel. When repeated negotiations failed, Egypt and Syria launched a coordinated attack on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur. When the bloody war was over, Egyptian forces had been driven back over the Suez Canal. But both sides appeared to be hurt in the war.
