    Writes De Revolutionibus (Copernicus)

    Writes De Revolutionibus (Copernicus)
In 1532, Copernicus finished writing his manuscript De Revolutionibus. However this manuscript had some changes made to it for a decade. In this manuscript he showed the planets that were known about in this time and how they orbited around the sun. We still use this today but we have found more information about the solar system. http://www.reading.ac.uk/web/FILES/special-collections/featurecopernicus.pdf

The Theory That Earth is Not the Center of the Universe

The Theory That Earth is Not the Center of the Universe
1543, Copernicus had his theory that Earth is not the center of the universe. The Sun actually is and all the planets rotate around the Sun. This theory is very big and today it helps us figure out many things about the solar system. However today we have discovered many more things like all of the planets and how there are different types of planets. <ahref='http://http://inventors.about.com/od/timelines/a/Sixteenth.htm' >http://inventors.about.com/od/timelines/a/Sixteenth.ht
  • Galileo's thermometer

    Galileo's thermometer
Galileo invented the thermometer in 1593. This tool is used to measure temperature. It is important because we today still use this invention to measure tmeperature which is how hot or cold it is.

  • The First Flush Toilet Invented by Sir John Harrington

The First Flush Toilet Invented by Sir John Harrington
In 1596, the first flush toilet was invented by Sir John Harrington. He was the godson of Queen Elizabeth 1. He built the toilet for her. We are very glad this invention was made because without it we today might not have flushable toilets. This is an imporantant invention even today.

  • Galileo DIscovered The RIngs Around Saturn

Galileo DIscovered The RIngs Around Saturn
Galileo was the first person to find out about the rings that are around Saturn in 1610. Thanks to him we know about this. Today we still know that it is true that there are rings around Saturn.

  • Evangelista Torrecelli's mercury barometer

    Evangelista Torrecelli's mercury barometer
A barometer is a tool that is used to measure the amount of air pressure in the air. This specific barometer used mercury to measure the air pressure. We use this invention today still. However we use a more modified type today. Both still measure air pressure and without this first invention we might not have the one we have today so this was a great invention. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/inventors/indext.shtml#Torricelli
  • Otto Von Guericke Invented the Air Pump

Otto Von Guericke Invented the Air Pump
In 1650, Otto Von Guericke invented the air pump. This pump was used to supply air to another item. WIthout this air pump we might not have one today and since it was used to create the vacuum we probably wouldn't have the vacuum. Also the air pump is very important and we use it a lot today.

  • Newton's three laws of motion

    Newton's three laws of motion
These laws are imporatnt because we still use them today to explain many things like why an object doesnt move when nothing is applied to it.
Law one: An object in motion will stay in motion til a force is applied and an object in rest will stay at rest until a force is applied.
Law two: when a force is applied it will accelerate.
Last three: for every action there is an equal and opposite
    reaction.
