The Inca tribe, led by Manco Capac at the time, founded the city of Cuzco in the Cuzco Valley region. This is the Incan capital located in the Andes. Cuzco is now known for its Spanish colonial Architecture.

The Inca ethnic group moves to Peru. They first appeared in the Andes during the 12th century. They moved specifically to Cuzco Valley. Cuzco is now the Incan capital. Some myths say that the Inca was created by a sun god named Inti.

Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui became the leader of the Inca. He conquered many nearby tribes and made a huge Inca Empire. During his reign, he reorganized their government and created the city of Machu Picchu.

The Inca king, Huayna Capac took power. He was the son of Tupac and when Tupac died, his son immediately became emperor.

Emperor Huayna Capac died of plague. He most likely died of smallpox from the spanish people who came there. Over the next several years many Inca people died of smallpox.

Atahualpa defeats Huascar and becomes the emperor. At the same time, Francisco Pizarro arrived into Peru. Later that year Pizarro captured Atahualpa.

Francisco Pizarro kidnapped the emperor, Atahualpa. Atahualpa was executed the next summer, and although the spanish were way outnumbered by locals, they easily did what they needed to do in 1533.

Francisco Pizarro was killed. He died in Lima, Peru on June 26. The people from Lima killed him for his brother´s doings.

The Spanish executed the last of the Inca emperors, Tupac Amaru. The Inca had no one left to rule them. This led to the disappearance of the Inca empire.

Archaeologist Hiram Bingham finally discovered the mountaintop city of Machu Picchu. It was left in ruins, but some things were still in tact. Machu Picchu was destroyed by spanish invaders, and before 1911, there was only the memory of it.
