As the Egyptian government slowly deteriorated and no one was ruling Egypt, the Ottoman Turks took over in 1517 in what was the start of the Ottoman period in Egypt. They entered Vairo and almost destroyed it taking control from that point on.

On July 24, 1798, Napolean Bonepart looked to cut off Bristish communication with India by Capturing Egypt and it's capital of Cairo. Egypt then became a part of the Ottoman Empire.Napolean later took other parts of the country.
