  • Leaving Home

    Leaving Home
Italy just isn't united anymore. How can we be a united nation if our ruler lives nowhere near us. The political opression is too much to bear. I've decided to leave for America but i will miss my famiglia. The only sibling coming with me is Henry.
  • Arrival

    Arrival
Arriving in Ellis Island was hetic and the people were mean. I met a nice man though. His name is Giuseppe and he's from Sicily too. He's a sculptor like Henery and I'm an artist. Because there's such a high demand for Italians with skills like ours to construct capitol buildings, we are heading to Washington DC to find work.
  • Work

    Work
After a long journey we have finally found work. Because of the discrimination of immigrants, we have accepted jobs for very low pay. It will have to do for now but we cannot continue to live in our beaten up tenement. On a higher note we have met many other Italians who have an interest in moving West.
  • Money

    Money
We have finally made enough money to make the trip west! As soon as the weather warms up, we will be leaving with a few friends. Beacause of the good farming and family life we plan on heading in the Oregon and California area. We hope to spread Christianinty throughout the west.
  • Train

    Train
Being on the train brings a new hope. We are really heading west. Because they pay was not very good for immigrants in the city, we had to sell almost all of our belongings to get extra money.
  • Land

    Land
We are finally off the train and got our land Yesterday. It will take some work to establish our life here but because we are so thankful to be out of the city, we have no complaints. We have met the other missionaries so we have joined them and plan to build a church soon to further spread Christianity.
  • Much Worth It

    Much Worth It
I am so glad we came the California. We have just finished building a church and Henry is living with us and doing well. Guisseppe and I are to be married. Because we have found a great place here in America, my brothers Marco and John have decided to immigrate. I'm so glad we left Italy!
