On Monday morning, we got up really early; we took the train, the metro and finally the plane. After our landing in Malta, we visited the city of MDINA. You can see in the photo it's a beautiful city with a nice panorama.
-
After Mdina, we visited the catacombs. They are quite dark and wet, but they are really interesting and we learnt a lot of information about Malta's history. After the visit, we took once again the bus to the ferry. When we were arrived to Gozo we were welcomed by Maltese teachers delegation. We went to the monastery (our hotel) and next we went to the restaurant
and tasted kinnie a special Maltese drink. -
It was the day of the arrival of the Italian and Spanish groups.
Strangely enough the Italians left a mild and sunny Torino to land in a windy and rainy La Valletta! It was pouring and the ferry crossing to Gozo sounded like the film "The Perfect Storm": the students enjoyed their time on board while the teacher struggled to survive! -
Once in the St. Augustin Friars Convent - where the atmosphere was quiet, dim and meditative - the Italians anxiously waited for the return of their French partners from their excursions and the arrival of the Spanish ones, to meet them. When the French came back to the shelter, the 7 Cavaliers immediately made friends and shared music, opinions, ideas, snacks and soft drinks. The convent kept its silence which was suddenly broken by... 15 excited and screaming kids: finally the Spanish group
-
The expedition was now ready: all the students grouped at "Aurelio's" (the only wi-fi corner of all the old and thick-wall building, password "Aurelio") and were ready for the first dinner together. Excitement could be breathed, the convent had never been so lively!

On Tuesday morning we went to the Maltese partners school. In the school we worked with Maltese students on programming Lego NXT robots. We created a program so the robot could push a can outside an area limited by a black line. After we ate Maltese specialities and then we visited the Ggantia Temple.
-
On Tuesday afternoon we went to Gozo's coast. We saw really beautiful cliffs, and the sea was really rough, it's why it was so impressive like you can see in the picture. We also saw a little town next to an inner sea with a lot of colours.

After a stormy, windy and rainy Tuesday, Wednesday proved the weather forecast right since it was a sunny warm November day. The partners arrived at school at around 8.45 a.m. and were greeted by the Head of School together with a number of teachers from the Comenius team. The partners were guided through an Art Exhibition on robotics and were addressed by the head of school Mr. Pierre Camilleri.
-
A meeting was then held in one of the computer labs where each school presented itself, its country and the material prepared for this visit i.e. Robotics in Art, Literature and Movies.Following the presentations our guests were treated to a sample of traditional Gozitan snacks and the project coordinators met for a another meeting.

The loss of our French partners was felt as their flight was scheduled to depart early on Friday morning, but we still had an important school session awaiting us. The day commenced with a Robotics workshop where Jesmond introduced the Lego NXT Robots to the Italian and Spanish students. They then formed 4 mixed groups to enhance collaboration between the different countries and all groups started working on their respective tasks. This 2 hour session flew by very quickly and after a short break
