    Lived 4 million years ago. They were the first bipeds to walk on earth and were the shortest.
  • Homo Habilis

    Lived about 2 million years ago. They lived in East Africa.
  • Homo Erectus

    Lived 1.8 million years ago. These were mostly found in Africa, India, China, and Java.
  • Neanderthals

    Lived less than 500,000 years ago. They mostly were found in Germany and were often called Handy Man.
  • Homo Sapiens Sapiens

    These species are similar to modern humans and have more qualities than all other species before it.
  • Rise of the Kingdon of Sumer

    Approximately 2900 B.C.E. Sumer was located in Mesopotamia. It was right in between the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers. It was a society that developed arts and sciences and organizations.
  • The Epic of Gilgamesh

    Exact date of writing unknown; best copies discovered in a 7th century BCE royal library. This epic is about the King of Uruk, Gilgamesh. He was searching for immortality but found that it doesnt really mater as much as he believed it did.
  • Abraham

    Approx. 1900BCE. Abraham lived in Ur, a citry in Mesopotamia. Abraham and his wife could not have a baby but in her elderly years, she did have one and his name was Isaac. God commanded him to sacrifice his son but God spares him at the last second.
  • Hammurabi's Code

    1792-1750 BCE. This was a list of many laws that applied to the people under Hammurabi's reign. Many of these laws were unjust but others were just as well. Hammurabi was a strong ruler, but wasn't that smart.
  • Joseph goes to Egypt and the Israelites follow

    Approx. 1700-1280 BCE. The brothers of Joseph tried to kill him and send him into slavery because of their jealousy. The pharaoh of Egypt used him and his whole family moved to Egypt to live with him. He also moved all of the Israelites to Egypt and life was nice during the Middle Kingdom era.
  • Moses, the Exodus from Egypt, and the Ten Commandments

    Approx. 1280-1240 BCE. Moses was the one that led the people out of slavery.The Exodus from Egypt was the Passover that spared the Jewish boys. The Ten Commandments were recieved by Moses at Mount Sinai.
  • The Time of the Judges/The Time Before Kings

    Approx. the middle of the 13th century to the middle of the 11th century BCE. Deborah was one of the judges and her job was to keep the army in tact.
  • The Reign of David

    Approx. 1013-973 BCE. David was just a normal man but he chose himself to fight Goliath, the huge monster, and that's how he became King.
  • Elijah

    Approx. 875-853 BCE. Elijah was the famous prophet of God.
  • Siege of Lachish

    This took place in 701 BCE, What happend to cause this event was the Assyrian King Sennacherib attacked the Judean town of Lachish. Many reliefs were carved to show the battle and captures.
  • Siege of Jesusalem

    This event took place in 587 BCE. King Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah and conquered it. Zedekiah and his followers tried to escape but failed. His sons were killed in front of him and he was blinded. This was a time of great horror.
  • Indus Valley Civilizations

    The time period was 2000 BCE. These people lived in Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa. Some artifacts that were found here were terra-cotta figurines and ceramic seals.
  • The Aryan Invasion and the Vedas

    the time period was 1700 BCE. The Aryans were a powerful race that traveled through Europe and Asia. They settled in the Indus Valley. They encounted the Vedas, ancient acriptures that were later transcibed into Sanskrit.
  • 1818: The Ascetics and the Upanishads

    The time period was 700-500 BCE. The ascetic was a person dedicated to a life of spiritual austerity and self-discipline. The Upanishads contain dialouges of a guru that was known as the final part of the Vedas.
