    Romans keep some greek traditins
    The Romans were able to defeat Greece and start to build their own empire on top of the grecians. Although the romans were able to conquer Geece, that doesnt mean they are in all ways supperior. The Romans maintained the greek traditions of drinking wine.

    Alexander the Great

    Alexander the Great united the Greeks in order to conquer Persia. He also conquered Egypt parts of Asia as well as Syria. His men were often paid in wine since water was not always readily available and they celebrated victory with wine.

    The Spartans Fought the people of Athens in a long war in which Sparta defeated Athens. During the war, places where wine was manufactured were targeted more often than any other buisness because vineyards drove both economies.

    Marcus Antonius' death
    Marcus Antonius was a supporter of Sulla and a political rival of Gaius Marius. When Gaius became more powerfull he sought to kill everyone who opposed him. Marcus Antonius was up pretty high on his list. marcus sought sanctuary in one of his lower class friends homes. He was revealed when his friends slave tried buying wine for Marcus. When the slave tried to buy the expensive wine he raised the eyebrows of anyone looking and when questioned gave Marcus' hiding spot away. ps happened in 87 bce.

    The pyramids were built in honour of a pharoh's upcoming death. There were often thousands of workers constructing each one, the workers farmed in the rainy season ond built pyramids in the dry season. The workers were often paid in beer and bread because both stored well and beer was safer to drink than the water that was available.

    The city of Sumer was very succesfull and large for its time. The people were organized into social classes depending on their job and the people were paid in rations accordingly. Their rations were of beer and bread, they were taxed in beer and bread as well.

    Cuneiform was established in order to record the taxes on beer and bread. The people of sumer and similar cities would pay a tax of beer and bread which was then stored for later payments.

    Beer was made on large quantities and was intended to be drank by many people. this community attitude toward beer allowed larger and larger groups to form, eventually making cities like Sumer

    Neolithic revolution
    The people during this time began to farm and domesticate animals rather than hunting and gathering. Beer was essential to this revolution because it allowed for the grains to be stored differently and purified the water.
