Pottery includes the earliest known ceramics. About 12000 years ago, some clever people figured out that if you mix a couple of things together, you get a moldable substance to hold things. -
The first steps of mankind...
-
Irrigation is basically how much water goes toward a crop/ piece of land for the growth of the plants. -
Bronze materials became a major part of many economic systems and have been found in the graves of the rich/ royals. -
The basic grasp on mining is if you can't find it on the surface, it must be below. The ancient people mined for things such as flint to create more pottery. -
Writing completely changed civilization for the better. Basically, we figured out how to put words together/ talk on paper like I'm doing right now. -
Horses were basically just used as another mean of transportation. -
If they had a reason to stay such as crops or animals, they would build huts. -
Animal husbandry is the process of domesticating any type of animal for it to fit your needs. -
Because rowing was a lot of work, the people decided to create a sail to make their lives easier. -
Masonry is basically the creation of bricks from various materials. -
Engineering is the science of using science to design things. These things include buildings, roads, etc. -
I think it's pretty obvious that shipbuilding is just the process of building ships. Ships were helpful for transporting goods and such. -
This is the practice of taking something such as the sun or moon and making measurements to see where you are located on Earth. -
Currency is the idea that something should have a value measured by how valuable it seems. They then created pieces of metal that you had to give in order to receive something and how many pieces of metal you had determined your wealth. Of course, we later move into paper bills as well as credit/debit cards. -
Thanks to the Medieval Era, I'm here now creating a presentation for school. The people during this era thought it would be such an amazing idea to put young kids in school so they could get a proper education. The real idea behind education isn't torture, it's so that civilization can keep on advancing. -
Archery was commonly used to kill other humans and animals. It was a major invention that helped us grow to things such as guns. It was a stepping stone for other weapons/ projectiles. -
We're taking a couple more steps now and remarkably growing.
-
Ironworking is basically just the process of welding. Its melting iron to make is malleable and make it whatever you choose. -
Mathematics is the process of figuring out that 2+2=4. The first idea of mathematics was that having 4 bananas is better than having 2. -
The stirrup is considered one of the most basic things needed in order for civilization to spread/ advance. It's basically just a tool that makes it easier to hop on your horse. -
Machinery was/is a HUGE leap for humanity. It makes life 100 times easier for everyone. -
Military engineering is basically just the process of building things to help during war. This includes things such as the ram, catapult, and gun powder. -
We're now building cities and castles and finally getting the hang of well... life.
-
Castles are just huge piles of stone that royals/royal families lived in. Simple as that. -
Cartography is the making of a map. Now, there are a lot of different opinions about when cartography started so don't take my word for it wherever I decide to place this event. -
The wheel started off the Bronze Age and was basically one of the first means of transportation. -
This was one of the second things that impacted civilization the most, other than writing of course. Printing also gave booksellers the means to produce multiple books at a fairly fast rate. -
New powers are now forming... we're putting fire in the sky and finding new ways to kill people. Fun!!
-
Gunpowder's invention is usually credited to the Chinese. Originally the idea was fireworks but then we found a more practical use. -
A square-rigged ship is all about how the sails are placed. They took over and completely knocked triangle sails out of the way. -
This kind of goes along with mass production except it's not at a fast rate. It's when someone makes multiple metal pieces that are identical to one another. -
Banks came to be for loans and ways for rulers to fund their clashes/crusades. -
Ballistics is the mechanics of throwing things. This includes things as simple as rocks. -
Mass production is exactly what it sounds like. It's when a product is made at a large and fast rate. But during this era, mass production is limited to just pottery molds. It later grows in the Industrial Era. -
Machinery is getting it's kick on things and we're moving into mass production as demand for things grows higher and higher.
-
Steam power is a very helpful tool. It's basically just taking advantage/harnessing the power steam holds and putting it into an engine. -
To summarize economics, it's the understanding of goods/services and how to distribute them compared to the consumption of them. -
A lot of advances come with astronomy. We can now see planets more easily/ learn more about them. -
This technology is such a big leap hence why the whole era is named after it. It took humanity to a whole other level. It was driven by the invention new machinery. -
We've apparently known electricity for a while now. The Greek Gods would send down electricity when they were mad. We obviously know where electricity is now. -
Sanitation is obviously the idea of being clean. This is things like good hygiene, etc. I personally believe we should all be very thankful for this one. -
Chemistry evolved from a pseudoscience called alchemy. It was used by alchemists of course and was basically the Holy Grail. -
Petroleum Refining is when you take oil and turn it into a less "harsh" product. It can become a couple of things the most common being fuel. Fun fact: According to science, it makes young women go through puberty earlier than we used to. -
Combustion is the process of burning something. I believe that's pretty simple. -
With now having flight and brand new ways of communicating, we're becoming more advanced with each breathe we take.
-
Rifling is something that makes a gun have better aim and range. It's a pretty good upgrade if you ask me. -
We all know and love the radio/radio stations. The radio was actually the first form of "wireless" communication. It would send waves or impulses through the ground or through the water. -
We all love plastics. (not what they do to the planet but how useful they are) So, if you use plastics in your daily life you can thank Leo Baekeland. -
Although everyone knows about Leonardo Da Vinci's thoughts on flight, he wasn't quite the first to do it. The first successful event including flight is a hot air balloon made by some brothers. -
Rockets were a pretty terrible weapon up until World War 2. Or even just for fireworks. All in all, they were pretty useless... until now. -
In my eyes, a computer is a chunk of technology that I have to carry around for school. Not that I don't appreciate it but, you know.... anywho, Charles Babbage is who I have to thank for this. He created the first mechanical computer. -
When chemistry became a huge part of human life, scientists wanted to improve on animals and plant products. After some experimenting, we now have synthetic products. -
The first flight of a jet aircraft was made by the Italian Caproni Campini N.1 prototype in August 1940. Even though it was successful, the mass production of jet aircraft didn't start until 1944. -
In most sciences, nuclear fission is the decay of the nucleus into lighter nuclei. It sets off some atoms and creates a large amount of energy. -
As our discovery expands, so does our curiosity. We're thinking more ahead than ever before.
-
Sometimes you lose something and you only need one part of it back. That's why we as a society thought of replaceable parts. Or maybe... it's said they were created due to machinery becoming bigger especially after the industrial era as machinery was just growing from there. -
Nuclear fusion is the process by which two light atomic nuclei combine to form a single heavier one while releasing massive amounts of energy. -
Steel is obviously a metal. Benjamin Huntsman established the first steel factory/steel works in England. He had it priced pretty fair and it's still that way today. -
Telegraphs were just not cutting it anymore. They were too slow. Even though they changed the world, we were looking for something wireless. So boom, satellites and telecommunications. -
Believe it or not, laser is an acronym for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.” That's literally what happens and what it is. -
We all know and love satellites. They make our lives so much easier. One example of this is your cellphone. Without satellites, you'd be hooked up to a wire all day if you wanted to be on your phone. -
You can think of stealth technology as spy technology. It's kind of a combination of a bunch of military projects and some experimental science. -
The robot is anything that self-automates but doesn't actually have a brain. But of course, we don't think of machinery when we think of robots. We think of the humanoid robots we're seeing a little bit too much of today. -
Nanotechnology refers to the branch of science and engineering devoted to designing, producing, and using structures, devices, and systems by changing atoms and molecules at nanoscale. -
A composite is any material made from two or more materials with significantly differing physical or chemical properties; composites are distinct from alloys or chemical compounds (in which the components do not retain their original properties). -
The information is where we are now. We are at the top of our game. Everyone is carrying a phone and on social media.
-
Who knows where we'll go from here??
-
While AI is cool, it can be a problem... especially since Chat GPT. Advanced AI is literally insane. It just a human inside of an app or website at this point. -
The Advanced Powercell is an energy storage device added by RFTools. It will store up to 4,000,000 RF and transfer up to 20,000 RF/t though each face. Advanced Powercells and Powercells can be linked with Powercell Cards to share a single pool of energy. -
Predictive modeling is defined as a mathematical process used to predict future events or outcomes by analyzing patterns in a given set of input data. One way I like to think of them is predicting the weather. -
The famous mathematician Andrey Nikolaevich Kolmogorov defines cybernetics as the “science concerned with the study of systems of any nature which are capable of receiving, storing, and processing information so as to use it for control.” -
This is basically the concept of going to other planets. In order to do that we need to find ways to grow more food and find more water somewhere else somehow. Who knows when this will happen? -
Smart materials are defined as materials that are manipulated to respond in a controllable and reversible way, modifying some of their properties as a result of external stimuli such as certain mechanical stress or a certain temperature, among others.
