The Declaration of Independence
Congress approved the last text of the Declaration of Independence. Independence was declared on July 2, 1766. It wasn't signed until August 2, 1766. -

A month before Mexico lost California to the United States, James Marshall made a huge discovery. Marshall's discovery ked to the one of the biggest migrations. orange book, page 439-441 -
The Attack on Fort Sumter
General P.G.T. Beauregard, in command of the Confederate Forces around Charleston Harbor, opened fired on Fort Sumter. On April 13 Major Robert Anderson, garrison commander, surrendered. -

Jackie Robinson becomes the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball. He played his first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers. -
