    In ancient times, the region around present day Mongolia had many *DIVERSE Asian ethnicities, who each spoke their own language and practiced their own religion. They each practiced their own, local religions that incorporated *Shamanism (believed in spiritual ancestors and gods) and *ANCESTOR VENERATION (belief that ancestors could provide protection and guidance for society). The language was Classical Mongolian.

Kalakha Mongolian (Mongolian language) are official languages. Mongolian is considered the *LINGUA FRANCA (bridge/trade language between speakers of different languages), and Mongolia is the language of education, schools, the media, and the government.
