    Hernan Cortes was born in 1485, in the town of Medellin. His father is Martin Cortes and his mother is Dona Catalina. They had very little wealth but had much honor.

    At the age of 14, in 1499, Hernan went to school at Salamanca to study Latin. This school was held in West-central Spain. Hernan, as some people said, was not the most delightful child.

    After two years of being away, in 1501 Hernan came back home. His parents had hoped to see him with a job. He ended up, with all of his school experience, applying to unauthorize his conquest of Mexico.

    Hernan left for Hispaniola in 1504. At the age of 18,while in Santo Domingo, he signed up to be a citizen. Once he did this he was now able to a plot of land, to plants crops on.

    The next five years in Hispaniola helped to set him in the colony more. During those five years in, 1506, Hernan was established in the conquest of Hispaniola.For his efforts, he got awarded land and Indian slaves.

    In 1511 Hernan was promoted and now accompanied, Diego Velazquez Cuellar. Hernan helped with the conquer of Cuba. Awhile later, at the age of 26, Hernan was made clerk with the responsibility of making sure the crion received the pinto or customary one-fifth of the profit from the expedition.

    In the same time era,1519,Cortes sailed to a new place on the Southeastern Mexican Coast. Once he got there he founded Veracruz,mainly just to have himself be elected for Captain general and Chief justice. Hernan Cortes did what no other mainland would do, he disciplined and exercised his army.

    In the late 1519,November 8, Cortes had a small Spanish force of 1,000 Tlaxcaltecas. According to diplomatic customs Mexico, Montezuma took him with great pleasure. Awhile after Hernan decided to kill Montezuma to hold together the country through its monarch and to achieve its political and religious conversion.

    On February 18, 1519 Cortes had, 11 ships, 508 soldiers, and about 100 sailors, and 16 horses. March,1519 he landed in Tabasco, he stayed here for a time to learn from the Indians. He won them over and gave them presents,also 20 women, one of them became his mistress and interpreter and bore him a son, Martin.

    July 7, 1520 Cortes finished and won a battle between Otumba and Aztecs who were sent in pursuit. After the war he rejoined the Tlaxcaltecas allies and reorganized his forces before taking on the Tenochtitlan in December 1520. After the capture ended on August 13, 1521, this marked the fall of the Aztec empire.Cortes then became the overall ruler of the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean.

    In 1524 Cortes lost his urge to explore and conquer so he moved South to Hundarous. He spent two years in terrible and gruesome did not help his health and position. His land was seized by the officials left in charge and he returned to New Spain in 1530 to find the country in state of anchary. In the end, he was charged to return to Mexico but died before he got there.

    Hernan Cortes sadly passed away on December 2, 1547. He passed away at the age of 61 or 62. Cortes died to the cause of pleurisy, in the location of Seville.
