The Mycenaean period marks the end of the bronze age in Modern dat Greece. This is when the people began to make great strides in technology, military tactics, agriculture and architecture. Many of their deities were Olympians.

Supposedly the Trojan War occurred here although this has been debated by scholars and historians for literally thousands of years.
Many of the Olympians took sides. -
We know that the faith is at least this old.

The Olympic games were originally dedicated to the Olympian Gods (specifically Zeus), there were many games and events and women were forbidden from participating and only highly ranking females were allowed to watch.
This was held in Olympia, at the base of Mount Olympus; the believed home of the Gods. -
The first known coins were introduced in either Ionia in Asia Minor or Lydia some time before 600 BC. The coins were made of an alloy of gold and silver known as electrum. Around the middle of the sixth century BC, the production of pure gold and silver coins became simpler.
Most cities had their own coins which were used in inter-trade processes, and each city had its own symbols, signs and patrons gods carved on the coins. -
This is when the Romans reached Greece, and began their conquest. This quest led to the absorption of the Greek mainland and the Isles.
However, due the the Romans' mix of war and diplomacy, they also absorbed their religion, keeping the gods alive, just under new names, and management. -
Slowly the Roman empire began its conversion to Christianity, this combined with the loss of territory and banning/outlawing of the Worship of the Old Gods, killed them (Metaphorically).

In 2017 the Greek government officially unbanned Hellenism as an official religion.
This allowed the legal building of temples, marriages, funerals, and other rituals and ceremonies.
The Gods are again under worship.
