    Persian War

    The Persian War consisted of 3 battles the Battle of Marathon, the Battle of Thermopylae, and the Battle of Salamis. The Persian Empire tried to conquer Greece 3 times but failed. The Persian Empire wanted their revenge after the Athenians helped one of their colonies resid. The 3 wars were very important, The Phalanx formation was created where the soldiers stand side by side with spears and shields. The second battle was the first battle that Greeks and Spartans united to fight the Persians.

    Golden Age

    The Golden Age occurred between the Persian War and the Peloponnesian Wars. The Golden Age mainly effected Athens, but having a big army could effect others. Some people would say that during the Golden Age Athens had the greatest ruler they ever had. He increased Democracy, created the strongest navy, and created the Parthenon. Athens became very wealthy and powerful being the leader of the Delian Leauge after the Persian War. A big thing that led to the Golden Age was the economic prosperity.

    Peloponnesian War

    During the Peloponnesian War Pericles was the leader of Athens. He brought all the citizens behind the city's wall as protection. During the second year, Athens undergoes a plague which 1/3 of the population dies including Pericles. The war takes place in Ancient Greece and Sicily. Sparta wins the war because Athens was so weak after the Plague. Both city-states were weakened by the war, so Philip the II easily conquered Greece.

    Alexander the Great

    Alexander was born in Pella, the capital of Macedonia. At age 13 he was tutored by the famous philosopher, Aristotle. Alexander was very smart and well educated. He is mainly known for being the King of Macedonia, but he did a lot of other things too. Alexander was one of the greatest military leaders of all time, he successfully conquered the Persian Empire. Alexander turned back after getting to India and died shortly at the age of 33. His empire was split up between all of his generals.
