    Persian Wars

    Persian Wars
    The Persians tried to conquer Greece 3 times but failed. Athens, Sparta and other Greece city states united to create the Delian League which was controlled by Athens. Greece won the first battle, the Persian won the second battle in Thermopylae because of a Greek traitor, then the Greece won the third battle and the war. The war had a huge significance because Athens and Sparta join forces for the first time.

    Golden Age

    Athens became very wealthy and power as the leader of the Delian league after the Persian Wars. During this time Pericles the leader of Athens increased democracy, created a strong navy, and made Athens beautiful. Athens prosperity led to classical art, theatre and philosophy.
  • 429 BCE

    Peloponnesian Wars

    Athens did not let any Greek city state leave the Delian league. Athens colonized every city state that left the Delian league. Sparta created the Peloponnesian league to counter the Delian league. Athens undergoes a plague in the 2nd year of the war then Sparta wins. The war made Phillip the II of Macedonia able to conquer Greece because both city states were weak

    Alexander The Great

    After the Greek city states were weakened from the Peloponnesian wars Phillip the II Alexander the Great's father conquered Greece. Phillip the II died at his daughter's wedding, making Alexander the Great king. Alexander the Great conquered Greece, and the Persian Empire. He conquered Greece, Anatolia, Egypt, Persia, India. He turned back after reaching India, then shortly died. His empire was split between his generals.
