Mr. Jagger takes Pip to from the countryside to the busy city of London.

While Pip gets a tour from Mr. Wemmick he finds London to be a disappointment. He also mets Herbert Pocket, who he had met before at Mrs. Havisham's home, and they begin a friendship.

Pip seeks the help of Herbert Pocket, his new friend, to teach him how to properly behave and become a gentlemen. The friendship between the two men also grows.

Pip has an awful and uncomfortable visit to the the Royal Exchange.

After being invited to the Pocket house, Pip takes time to observe how the family works and each members individual personallity. Pip also meets his new classmates.

Pip befriends Wemmick and goes to dinner with him. He is very lively and good company. His pesonality completely changes from work to his personal life.

When Pip goes to the court room he sees a very frightening Mr. Jagger who is harsh enough that everyone in the room is scared to cross him.

Pip attends a dinner at Wemmick's small cottage home while Wemmick is describing it proudly as a "castle."

Pip goes to Jagger's dark and ominous home for dinner where he fights with Drummle about a loan. Jagger also warns Pip to drop the argument and avoid Drummle even though Jagger has taken a liking to Drummle.
