    In the beginging of the section Pip feels guilty for treating Joe and Biddy bad. He also feels that he has been a bad influence on Herbert. While Herbert and Pip are counting thier debts Pip gets a letter informing him that his aunt died last Monday, and that his attendance was requested at the funeral.

    Mrs. Joe Gargery Death
    Pip returns home to attend the funeral, he is surprised how his sisters death has affected him. He pledges to Joe and Biddy to visit more often, and then leaves.

    When Pip turns 21 he is excited. Turning 21 means that he is a adult and gets to be payed fully. He also hopes that his entrance to adulthood will cause Jagger to tell him the identity of his benefactor. He feels certain that it is Miss Havisham and that she means for him to marry Estella.

    Pip spends most of his time with Estella. He see's her break the heart of many of her suitors. He feels less important because he is not taken seriously. He cannot understand why Miss Havisham does not told him the details of their engagement, which he still believes will happen. Shortly after visiting Miss Havisham, Pip learns that Drummle is courting Estella.

    Herbet Returns Home
    After five days, when Herbet returns home Pip is forced to confront him. Magwitch leaves, and Herbert and Pip discuss the situation, agreeing that Pip should no longer use Magwitch’s money. They plan to take Magwitch to another country to stop him from being caught by the police. This is where the section ends.

    Pip has just turned 23, he is sitting in his appartment when a stranger enters his appartment. He soon realizes that the stranger is the convict from the graveyard when he was a boy. He also finds out that the convict is his benefactor. He soon learns the news that he is not meant to marry Estella. The convict tells Pip that he is still on the run from the law.
