The New Kingdom
(dynasties 18-20) c. 1550-1070 b.c.
-It was Ahmos I who managed tp defeat and expel the Hyksos from Egypt
-he reunited Egypt, founded the 18th Dynasty and established the New Kingdom
-It was known especially for monumental architecture and statuary honoring the gods and pharaohs
-the 19th Dynasty established an administrative capital near their home in the Delta
-the pharaohs of the 20th dynasty ruled for 120 years -
2nd Intermediate Period
(dynasties 13-17) c. 1650-1550 b.c.
-was dominated by the first foreign rulers of Egypt, the Hyksos
-the Hyksos came from the Levant and ruled as the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Dynasties of Manetho from their capitalat Avaris in the Nile Delta
-the Hyksos built themselves a new capital city at Avaris in the Nile delta in Lower Egypt
-the last rulers of the Theban Seventeeth Dynasty openly campaighned against the Hyksos kings -
The Middle Kingdom
(dynasties 11-12) c. 2055-1650 b.c.
-It was formed after a series of wars between the rulers of the Upper Egypt and the Lower Egypt. Upper Egypt won and they reunified the country.
-The Pharaos are the shepards of the people now
-The Middle Kingdom was a time of achievements for the ancient Egyptians
-Egyptians use writings to tell stories -
1st Intermediate Period
(dynasties 7-10) c. 2180-2055 b.c
-Known as the "dark period"
-spanned approximately 300 years after the end of the Old Kingdom
-It ended when Mentuhotep ll defeated the Heracleopolitan Kings of lower Egypt and reunited Egypt under one ruler -
The old kingdom
(dynasties 3-6) c. 2686-2181 b.c.
- encompassed the 3rd-6th dynasties of egyption kings.
-the largest pyrimids were constructed
-capital of old king was located at Mimphis
-assesment of land and tenants was undertaken to establish a tax base -
The Early Dynastic Period.
- First kind of the Dynastic region was Menes, from 3100 BC - 3050 BC
(dynasties 1-2) c. 3100-2686 b.c.
-The last king known the reign was nmed Narmer. HIs riegn was from 3050BC - 3049BC - First and second Dynasties
- Some of the hallmarks of ancient dynasties was architecture, art, and many aspects of egypt religions took place during that time of the Early dynstic region

Nile River The Nile River was the basis of cililization in teh middle east. The "miracle" of the nile was the anual flooding. the flooding was usaully predictable. (3000B.C.)
