Genius Hour

  • Getting Started

Day one of class had us thinking about our digital footprint! We watched a couple videos to get us motivated and excited - including Caine's arcade and Creativity Takes Time. We created a blogger account and started up our blogs!
  • Class 2 - Getting Busy!

We thought about and chose our genius hour topics and began making a Powtoon to showcase our findings! We worked a bit more on Blogger to set up some more pages. We discussed our goals for the genius hour project and what our next steps would look like.
  • Class 3 - Working Hard!

We continued working on our Powtoon videos. We also are encouraged to tweet during class and to take a peek at other classmates' Twitter accounts. We watched a great Ted Talk by Sugata Mitra who discusses how a child's curiosity and a desire to learn is found all over the world. We continued working on our genius hour projects and discussed how we think they should be assessed. In our blog this week, we reflected on our progress.
  • Class 4 - Nearing the End

We finished up our Powtoon projects and embedded them on our blogs. We put the finishing touches on these projects by adding sounds and narration. We began working on our movie trailers - which was so much fun! I used iMovie and collected several videos to add to the template. We embedded our movie trailers on our blogs and are expected to get feedback from our peers! We are nearing the end for our tech class so we had to kick it into high gear and finish researching our topics!
  • Class 5 - Almost Done!

We checked out Storyline Online - then made a form with different comprehension assessment questions that our peers filled out. We were separated into groups and looked at a variety of different learning objects then met into different groups to share what we learned with each other. Next, we chose one tool that we thought would be appropriate to add on our genius hour blog (that's where Timeline comes in!). We finalized our research for our genius hour project to be ready for our Ted Talk.
  • Class 6 - All Done!

This is the last class - everything has to be all complete and ready to hand in! Our Ted Talks are ready to be heard!
