  • The Reign of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette

    Louis XVI was not a very good leader and his wife gave him bad advice. Louis spent way to much money and made a deficit. The couple fled the country because they feared that the National Assembly was getting to powerful.
  • National Assembly

    The National Assembly is made up of the three estates: the First- church officials, the Second-wealthy noblemen , and the Third- peasants. This Assembly ruled the country with the king until Louis XVI was finally dethroned and France became a Republic in 1792.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The third Estate and the noblemen locked themselves in a tennis court. They did this because they wanted people to notice them as the National Assembly.
  • Declaration of Rights Of Men and Citizen

    The Declaration declared that all men were "born and remain free and equal in rights." They enjoyed natural rights to "liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression." It's basically like our Constitution.
  • Jacobins

    The jacobins were a radical group that wanted to make sure the Revolution always moved forward. The jocobins leader was by Robespierre.

    He was the man that created the Committee of Public Safety. He was also one of the leaders of the Reign of Terror.

    This was a group of people that removed people that made the revolution fall back.
  • The Reign of Terror

    A time in France where a lot of people were killed for very bad reasons. Basically if you opposed the Revolution the king beheaded you.
  • Napoleonic Code

    The Napoleonic Code was a list of human rights that Napoleon said he would do for the people. This was also called the Civil Code of 1804.
  • Napoleon Bonoparte

    He was a popular military hero that was famous for all of his victories in the battles that he fought. Became the ruler of Frace.
  • Russo-Japanese War

    War in 1904 over Japan and Russia. The Japanese win the territory and embarrasses Russia.
  • Rasputin

    He was a crazy healer that no one liked or trusted. He healed the queen's son of hemophiliac.
  • Duma

    The Duma acteed as the legislative body to the Russian's. It gets rid of Tsar Nicholas and the Duma takes over.
  • Lenin

    Lenin was a communist leader. He led the October Revolution, Russia, and the Bolsheviks.
  • February Revolution

    In the February revolution the Duma demands that Tsar Nicholas leaves the thrown. This Revolution lasted less than a week.
  • Tsar Nicholas II

    He was the king of Russia, but was a poor leader. In 1914 he enters WW1 and his army gets slaughtered.
  • Marxism

    It created by Karl Marx. It was said that if you eliminated social classes you will live in harmony.
  • Bolshevik Party

    It was a political party that believes in communism. The party the led by Lenin.
  • October Revolution

    The revolution was led by the Bolsheviks. In the October Revolution the Duma is overthrown.
  • Stalin

    Stalin worked his workers to death. He gained political support when Lenin was dying.
  • Cold War

    The United States didn't like Cuba being "friends" with the Soviet Union. This started the Cold War.
  • Communism

    Castro began organizing a Communist government.
  • Fidel Castro

    Castro led a group of rebels against Batista's government. He then attempted to overthrow Bastita's government of seven years.
  • Fulgencio Batista

    Batista had originally been elected for president, but made himself a dictator. Batista cancelled all free elections.
  • Bay of Pigs

    It was was a failed military invasion of Cuba started by the CIA-sponsored revolutionary group Brigade 2506.
  • Che Guevara

    He worked with Fidel Castro and traveled the world in an effort to cause revolutions. His historical significance is the influence that he has in Latin America even after his death.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    In October of 1962, US planes spooted secret Soviet missile bases in Cuba. It was an extremly tense time that couldv'e led to WWIII.
  • Embargo

    Due to the harsh events the US placed an embargo on goods from Cuba in 1962. Sugar cane could no longer be sold in the US.
  • Poverty

    As a result of the embargo, poor harvests, and bad government planning, Cuba's economy became very poor.
