French Revolution Timelines

  • National Assembly

    There was argument between the three capitals over voting methods in the the legislative body in France. The third estate wished to have a vote by head method, where as the First Estate and Second Estate wanted vote by block , each estate could only get one vote.
  • Storming the Bastille

    Paris's mob known as the invadides were determined to break into the prison of bastille wich had long been viewed as a symbol of the king's absolute authority. They did this as a form or rebelion. They first ran into the Invalides to steal weapons inorder to win against the few solders guardin the prison. After their attack they let out the prisoners.
  • Feudalism Abolished

    The panic of the Great Fear showed the peasants anger with the old, out dated system of obligations that were being enforced by the givernment. Landed aristocracy in the National Assembly seized on the idea that the only way to stop the tide of violence in the countryside was to renounce feudal privileges. The aristocracy stripped themselves of their feudal rights and privileges.
  • March on Versailles

    A mob of around 7,000 angry working woman marched from Paris to Versailles. They managed to march past the soldiers guarding the Queen but she barely managed to escape. The woman demanded bread while the royal family still feasted un carelessly, the woman later cornered Mary Aintuonete but rather than killing her they realized their power and demanded bread, King louie had no choice, after distributing bread to everyone they were held prisoners
  • The Royal Family Flees

    Unrest in Paris in the spring of 1791 convinced the queen, Marie Antoinette, that the family must flee. With the help of a friend, Count Axel von Fersen, they organized an esape plan. When they reached Varennes, Guardsmen recognised them and banished them off to paris again.
  • France Goes to War Against Austria

    The French government declared war on Austria. As Prussia was allied with Austria, France ended up fighting a war against both countries.
  • Paris Mob Attacks the Tuileries

    While the royal family was living under house arrest an angry mob managed to find their way in. The king remained calm, the mob placed a red cap on his head symbolizing revolution. After they threw a wine bottle at him, the king took to the health of the ration.
  • September Massacres

    The massacres began september 2 and lasted 5 days. When 24 priest were transported to a specific prison the massacres began. The prison of L'Abayye was attacked by a mob of angry paris citizens. They later went on to attempt to kill the prisoners after all the priests were dead, after the massacres a total of about 1200 prisoners died that beig around half the population of prisoners in all Paris.
  • The Republic of Virtue

    Social and cultural changes were implemented by the Jacobins during the time they were in control in an attempt to erase all traces of the Old Regime. They called their new society, based on reason, the Republic of Virtue.
  • The Execution of Louis XVI

    After six weeks of debate in the National Convention, with the Girondins wanting clemency for the king, whereas the Jacobins wanting to execute him. On January 21, 1793, the French government sent its former king to the guillotine.
