  • 1st Event

    1st Event
    Louis XVI became king right after the death of his grandfather. He married an Austrian women named Marie Antoinette. He was executed for treason in 1793 by the guillotine and his wife was killed 9 months later.
  • The calling of the Estates General

    The calling of the Estates General
    French economy was in a horrible state. This was the first time a meeting had been called since 1614. The meeting was mostly about taxation. He wasnted to start to tax the nobility but they weren't having it.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath
    After being locked out of the Estates General meeting the third estate took it upon themselves to meet at a royal tennis court in Versailles. They pledged to stay untill a new constitution was established. Everyone except one agreed.
  • The National Assembly was formed

    The National Assembly was formed
    The third estate decided to seperate themselves frorm the first and second estates so they formed the National Assembly. They passed laws and reforms to the government themselves. The first and second estates and the king didn't like this.
  • The attack of Bastille

    The attack of Bastille
    People stormed the Bastille prison and killed the guards and commanders. They went looking for gunpowder to defend the city. This was a symbolic act of revolution. Even there were only 7 prisoners in the jail at the time.

    This was a time period that ended on August 3, 1789. This was a period of panic at the start of the French revolution. Peasants startes riots and rumors of a "aristocratic conspiracy".
  • Women's March

    Women's March
    This was a march that happened because the scarcity of bread. There was a rumor going around that Marie Antoinette was hoarding bread in the palace and she supposadly said let the people eat cake. Women were outraged by this and many marched.
  • Declaration of war on Austria

    Declaration of war on Austria
    Revolutionaries wanted war because they thought it would unify the country's. At first Austria and Prussia wanted the king's well being.
  • The National Convention was formed

    The National Convention was formed
    After the overthrow of the Monarchy the National Convention was used to provide a new constitution. The Convention was made up of 749 deputies. This assembly governed France until October 26, 1975.
  • Louis XVI was executed

    Louis XVI was executed
    Louis XVI was tried for treason and conspiracy with foreign powers. He was then executed by the guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris.
  • The reign of Terror

    The reign of Terror
    This was a time period that ended on July 28, 1794. During this period there were mass murders of enemies of the revolution by the guillotine. Tens of thousands were being killed by the guillotine. After the death of Louis XVI the Reign of Terror began.
  • The Thermidorian Reaction

    The Thermidorian Reaction
    The Thermidorian Reaction was triggered with a vote of the National Convention to execute Maximilien Robespierre. It was a revolt during the French revolution against the jacobins Club and the Committee of Public Safety.
  • The Directoy was formed

    The Directoy was formed
    The Directory was the government of France during the ninth stage of the French Revolution. It lasted untill November 10, 1799. It was overthrown by Napoleon
  • Napoleon takes power

    Napoleon takes power
    He was the leader of France during the last stages of the French Revolution. He led from 1804 to 1814. I guessed they liked him because he was back in 1815. He was married 4 times and had 4 children.
  • Napoleon invades Russia

    Napoleon invades Russia
    In Russia this war was known as the Patriotic War of 1812. He invaded Russia with about 600,000 men and 50,000. His plans would have worked if the weather would have cooperated.
  • Napoleon defeated at Waterloo

    Napoleon defeated at Waterloo
    Napoleon led his army of about 72,000 troops against 68,000 men British army. The British army was commanded by Arthur Wellesley and Duke of Wellington. This was the final defeat of Napoleon.
