  • Call of the Estate General

    Call of the Estate General
    The revolution started because of the King of France. The kings name was King Louis XVI. The reason it started because of him is he spent the money of France on what he wanted instead of what France actually needed. He then had to raise taxes which put France in an even more difficult position.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    The Bastille is a prison which is located in Paris, France. A mob came into this prison and fought against the government. They came for the ammunition in the prison. This day did not end well with the governor being killed and his head put on a spike and the mob taking control of the Bastille.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The third estate which was called The National Assembly, was lead by Honoré Gabriel Riqueti. The people in the National Assembly took the Tennis court Oath which said they would not leave the National Assembly until there was a constitution in France. This was a major event because the third estate would continue to protest for more representation.

    The woman of Paris, France marched the streets in protest of how expensive bread was. They were armed with weapons like pitchforks and muskets. Everyone was starving in France except for the King and Marie Antoinette.
  • Champ de mars massacre

    This massacre started when the Jacobin were getting signatures for their petition. The National Soldiers started shooting at the crowd and massacre began. As many as fifty people died and more were wounded. The National Soldiers and the assembly were banned. This was a turning point for the new society.

    King Louis XVI was executed for Treason. He was executed by the guillotine. The revolutionaries made Marie Antoinette watch as he was executed.
  • Reign of terror

    The reign of terror started on September 5, 1793 and ended on July 28 1794. Its purpose was to get rid of Frances enemies. This was a time of executions. This stated after the execution of King Louis XVI and the queen was the first execution of the reign of terror. The son of the king and queen, Louis XVII disappeared during this time and was never seen again.

    The queen was put on a trail. At the end of this trail Marie Antoinette was convicted by the Revolutionary Tribunal of high treason. She was executed by the guillotine at the de la Révolution. The queen was the first execution after the Reign of Terror started.
  • Execution of Robespierre

    Execution of Robespierre
    The execution of Robespierre was towards the end of the French revolution. Robespierre was a very influential person during the revolution. He was a lawyer and a politician. He played a major role in the execution of the king. Robespierre was said to be like a dictator and this made the people not like him. Robespierre was put under arrest alongside his brother St-Just, François Hanriot, and Le Bas. They were trialed and then executed the next day.

    Napoleon rose to power through the military. He took over political power and crowned himself emperor in 1804. Napoleon rose to power by over throwing the Directory which was once a 5 people council and later became a three.
