  • Revolt of the Aristocratic Bodies

    Revolt of the Aristocratic Bodies
    Charles-Alexandre de Calonne called a meeting with the Estates-General to try and eliminate debt by increasing taxes of the Aristocrats. The upper-class men were not happy and they revolted, trying to get rid of the new tax set.
  • Great Fear of July 1789

    Great Fear of July 1789
    There was a conspiracy of the Aristocrats trying to overthorw the Estate and Third Estate. (middle and lower class) They were frightened and the king had gotten soldiers to take care of it, but they had already revolted.
  • Declaration of the Right of Man and the Citizen

    Declaration of the Right of Man and the Citizen
    In response to the Great Fear the kind created the Declaration of the Right of Man and the Citizen to try and calm the revolt. It said there was liberty, equality, saftey of property and right to refuse oppresion,
  • The New Regime

    The New Regime
    The National Constituent Assembly had wiped out the ancien regime when they completed the aboltion of fuedalism. This required them to make a new regime, but King Louis XVI tried to flee the country. He was caught and taken back home.

    First Phase

    The first phase of the war stared in April and ended in September of 1792. During the first phase the Royal Family was captured, during this time volunteers were taking places in the army for the revolution, Also, monarchy was ruled out of government and they chnaged to a republican government system.

    The Royal Family is Captured
    The Paris Revolutionaries that were gathered to calm the revolt in 1789 had thought that the King and Aristocrats had betrayed them. This led them to capture the royal family in the Tuileries Palace, where they had lived.

    Second Phase

    The French army conquered Belguim, the Rhineland, Savoy, and Nice. The National Convention had split into two parts, the Girondins and the Robespierre. Also during this time, King Louis XVI was executed for treason.

    King Louis XVI is excecuted
    The Convention judged King Louis XVI for treason, he was condemned to death for treason. King Louis XVI was excecuted on January 21, 1793.
  • The First Coalition

    The First Coalition
    In Spring of 1793, The First Coalition was created during the now third phase of the war, Austria, Prussia and Great Britian formed the First Coalition. It was created to try and defeat the French forces.
  • White Terror

    White Terror
    Royalist broke out into a revolt because social loaws were no longer in effect. Napoleon Bonaparte defeated the Royalist thought and the White Terror was put to rest.
