The Estates General is a legislative body opened in Versailles. In its assembly were the three estates. Over outrage, the third estate (the commoners) built their own assembly to better represent the common folk; this sparked the outbreak of the French Revolution. -
The National Assembly was an informal assembly to represent the third estate (commoners). Despite being more than 90% of the nationals population the third estate had little representation. Later after the assembly Louis XVI ordered them to meet somewhere else which resulted in the famous “tennis court oath”. -
The Storming of the Bastille is a significant event in the French Revolution. The Bastille was a state prison in east Paris. The Bastille became a figure of authoritarian oppressive rule and thus was attacked by a mob of commoners. At first the French army under Launay were able to hold back the attack but that soon changed and Launay was killed by the mob. -
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was arranged by the France's National Constituent Assembly. It is a document outlining the human civil rights of the French Revolution. -
The Women’s March Versailles is reactionary to poor treatment. Women went to the market to protest over high prices and low supply of bread. People blamed Louis XVI for these conditions, poor harvest and awful economic policies. -
The Flight to Varennes was an attempt for King Louis XVI of France, the queen Marie Antoinette, and their immediate family to leave Paris to counter the events of the French Revolution. This shows King Louis XVI lost faith in opposing the French Revolution and distrust. This turned out to be a failed attempt. -

The Execution of Louis XVI. Louis XVL was executed by French National Convention on the suspicion of conspiracy with foreign powers. Louis XVL was executed by guillotine as many more will be in the reign of terror. -
The Reign of Terror is a period of French Revolution where many deaths and guillotine executions. Over 17,000 executions occurred. It followed the execution of Louis XVI. Important people killed were Marie Antoinette and Maximilien Robespierre -
The Directory is a governing body in the First Republic of France. It was France’s solution to the dictatorship before and during the Revolution. The Directory became corrupt after sometime. It was there until overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte November 10, 1799.
