  • Bread Price Doubled

    Bread Price Doubled
    During this time, France was in debt, so what King Louis the XVI thought was a good idea was to double the price on food so that he could pay the debts more easily. This caused a lot of starvation and poverty because not everyone could afford it.
  • The Estates-General Meeting

    The Estates-General Meeting
    This was a meeting that hadn't happened since 1614 that was a meeting between the Estates; The Clergy (First Estate), The Noble (Second Estate), and The Common People (Third Estate), and was to decide the question whether or not should voting be based on the top two Estates (this would give the kind advantage) or letting all of the Estates vote together (this would give advantage to the common people). This was the first movement towards a revolution.
  • The "Tennis Court Oath"

    The "Tennis Court Oath"
    On June 20th 1789, the Third Estate delegates were going to be attending a meeting, but found out that the entrance to the meeting room was locked, and fearing of not being able to have the meeting, they gathered up in the nearest open room they could find, which was a tennis court. There they pledged that they will stay there until a new constitution would be made. They called it the "Tennis Court Oath".
  • The Storming of Bastille

    The Storming of Bastille
    July 14th was the day when a mob of people were trying to gather weapons to go out against the government, so they went to Bastille, a paris prison. Once getting there, they overtook the guards on the entrance and then they went after the prison commander and the people that worked for him, beheaded them and put their heads on poles and paraded through the streets with them. Now this day is a national holiday for the french "Bastille Day".

    This event was a general panic that happened between July 17 and August 3, 1789, which was when the peasants feared that the higher classes will try to kill them so they armed themselves up and attached mayor manors.
  • The King's Attempt to Escape

    The King's Attempt to Escape
    Once the National Assembly was able to reconstruct the relationship between church and state King Louis XVI realized that he couldn't stay in the position he was much longer and that he and his family were in danger, so during June 1791 he tried to escape with his family to the Australian Netherlands, but unluckily for them they got stopped at the border and got taken back to France under guard supervision.
  • The Storming of the Tuileries Palace

    The Storming of the Tuileries Palace
    10th of August was the fall of the monarchy in France, this event by itself defined the monarchy ending in France. This was when the Tuileries Palace was stormed and defeated.
  • The Legislative Assembly

    This was the first election once they had removed the king from power. The people there were mostly middle class men, who lacked political knowledge but had made their names through local politics.
  • Monarchy Removed from France

    Monarchy Removed from France
    This was when the Legislative Assembly officially removed the monarchy of King Louis XVI over France and removed him of majority of his power.
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    This was a period of violence that happened in France when the people on different sides of the political factions were over 25,000 people were killed and 16,594 of them by guillotine.
