  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    The Oath was a pledge signed by 576 of the 577 members from the Third Estate who were locked out of a meeting of the Estates-General. On the morning of 20 June, the deputies were shocked to discover that the chamber door was locked and guarded by soldiers. They eventually found a nearby indoor tennis court and made a conference room out of it.

    National Assembly Declared Constituent Assembly
    The National Assembly declares itself a constituent assembly. It was dissolved on September 30, 1791 and was followed by the Legislative assembly.

    Louis XVI was executed in a revolt against his absolute monarchy. The 3rd Estate was sick of his abuse of power and their resulting poverty, so they took matters in their own hands.
  • Execution of Marie Antoinette

    Execution of Marie Antoinette
    Never beloved by her people, they made her wait over seven monthes after her husbands execution to get her own. Unlike Louis XVI execution, it was very public, and they didn't give her a fancy carriage to ride in on. The people of France treated her just like any other woman about to be hanged.
