    Three estates were made up, these were the social classes. The First Estate was the highest class, and it was called the clergy. The Second Estate was the nobility, and the the Third Estate was the rest of the French society. The Estates General was an assembly that came up with these estates.

    The Third Estate wanted a new constitution but King Louis XVI refused. The Third Estate then found an empty tennis court, and vowed not to leave until they got what they wanted. The King eventually gave them a new constitution.

    There was a prison called the Bastille which was in Paris. It was attacked by an angry mob because it was a symbol of the authority of the royals. Many people were killed in the attack.

    Many women were demanding bread for their families. They all marched toward Versailles. The king agreed to give all the bread in Versailles to the crowd.

    The Royal Family felt like prisoners where they lived. They wanted to flee the country and move to Austria. They managed to get to Varennes before being recognized and being forced to go back.

    The monarchy was overthrown because King Louis was guilty of treason. The King and Queen were put in prison. The monarchy was then abolished.

    He was executed by guillotine. The people made Marie Antoinette watch him get killed. He was guilty of conspiracy with foreign powers.

    Robespierre started the Reign of Terror in order to prevent foreign invasions. He wanted to make everyone afraid and executed hundreds of people. This ended when Robespierre was executed.
