    Made up of 3 separate estates. They are forced to meet because of the Financial crisis furthered by Louis XVI.

    When peasantry burns down the castles and land of the nobility. The nobility are forced to flee and emigrate elsewhere in Europe.
  • Storming of Bastille

    Storming of Bastille
    San Culottes (the city poor) storm the Bastille (an old fort). They do to get weapons as the Bastille was a storehouse for weaponry. As well they do it to release political prisoners, to show their power over political oppression.

    An "executive order" by the National Constitutional Assembly that abolishes feudal rights.

    The Civil Constitution of the Clergy forced clergy members to agree to three conditions. 1. All property of the Catholic church was now national property 2. All clergy had to pledge loyalty to the government 3. All clergy were now employees of the state. It really caused a lot of opposition between liberals and Catholics at the time.

    The Jacobins get their way and execute Louis XVI as a traitor against the French state. He is guillotined.

    The Jacobins under the power of the Sans Culottes seize power and expel Girondins from the convention. This starts the reign of The Terror which is characterized by strict revolutionary policies.

    a mass draft enacted by The Convention (now ruled by the Jacobins and Sans Culottes). Helps France succeed militarily.
